Executive Chef and Owner Melissa Coel is a registered dietitian and culinary trained chef. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing from Florida State University and a Masters of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University. In between earning her degrees she attended Vail Mountain Culinary School in Vail, Colorado. Melissa began her career in the clinical setting working as a dietitian in hospitals around South Florida. In 2007 Melissa founded Everyday Gourmet, LLC, which provided event catering as well as a comprehensive range of nutrition services including nutrition counseling, personalized nutrition plans, in home cooking classes (private or group), menu design and nutrient analysis.
In 2012, Melissa took a one-year sabbatical to expand her knowledge of food and nutrition. She traveled around the world exploring international cuisines and served as a private yacht Chef. Her discoveries broadened her horizons and strengthened her creativity in menu planning for a variety of cultures.
In 2014 Melissa relocated her business to Denver, Colorado where she spent a few years in the corporate sector designing therapeutic menus and recipes for hospitals. As they say, passion does lead to purpose and Melissa's passion for working and creating with food has now led her back to catering. Through Everyday Gourmet, Melissa serves Denver and the surrounding areas with delicious culinary concoctions geared towards any occasions and any number of guests. From small, intimate dinners to large weddings, Everyday Gourmet will tailor a menu to your tastes and to your budget.
